Default E39 questions. OBC and telephone related..

Hi folks, i've had my E39 for a week now, and i'm having a few issues with the OBC. For some reason, i can't find how to reset my consumption meter.

I'm not a newbie when it comes to BMW's, but i've only had E36's and an E24, so the E39's OBC isn't what i was expecting. I've read through loads of articles provided by google, but none of the reset procedures seem to work.

Most of the procedures involve pressing the BC button on the mid, but mine doesn't have one. Here's a pic of my dash..

I do have a BC button on the stalk, but holding this just gives me the option to program what order i want the check items to show up.

The telephone issue i'm hoping is straight forward. Pretty much, i want to remove the tape deck unit, and fit my aftermarket one. I've already got an adpater for the steering wheel controls (volume and next disc/radio station), but by fitting an aftermarket head unit, will i lose the steering wheel connectivity to the phone? or is it connected seperately and won't be affected?

Thanks in advance for any help

Gav.
