Hello,
I'm new to the E39 forum; I got 2003 has 80K. Could you please advice what maintenance routine I should do besides change oil/filter. Also could you provide the E39 maintenance schedule. The current issues I have: 1) instrument cluster the numbers/words not clear just showing pixels also the passenger air bag light came on after we removed the seat and put it back due to seat tilting. If you could advice I really appreciate.
Thanks in advance

e39 Maintenance Schedule
Oil Changes 5k-7.5k or at least once a yr with Synthetic - Castrol, Mobil 1, Valvoline or Penzoil. 5w-30 or 10w-30 Mann Filter (I am now changing at 4k)
Coolant Change every 5 Years or 100k (Blue BMW) you might want look at Thermastat replacement at this time because they never seem to last. at 100k-125k might want to look at a total cooling system refresh - radiator, expansion tank, hoses, water pump so you don't get stranded or fry your engine
Cabin Filter 1 year
Brake Fluid Flush every 3-4 yrs or when pads are replaced
Transmission Fluid every 75k-100k on Automatic (Filter,Gaskets), Manual 25k-30k Diff 25k-50k
Air Filter 1 yr or every 30k
Plugs 60k for Plt and 75k for Iridium - I highly recommend NGK over Bosch
Brake Pads - Akebono Ceramics - Low Dust, Good Stopping Power, Rotor Friendly, Long Lasting and Quiet. Worth $$$
at 100k or 10yrs - Valve Cover Gasket and Oil Filter Housing Gasket
Power steering Flush every 50k and replace reservoir (has built in non-replaceable filter)

A Scanner that handles BMWs and Air Bags should be able to clear that code.......The Pixels can be fixed by replacing the ribbon. You can purchase off of eBay or other vendor and watch YT vid. The cluster has to be removed. Or remove the cluster to someone that repairs them. There are people that offer the service.
