i lost the under engine protector in the snow due to a bump the previous day...

anyway i noticed my car says -40 degrees all the time.

so i took the bumper off and im missing wiring.

i have the wire loom coming from the side of the engine.

one wire goes to the pin style temp sensor which attaches to under the bumper.

then a switch which attaches to the vent behind the grill

then i have a wire mess with 4 wires going no where.

2 are blue with stripes
and the other 2 are red and black i think.

any idea what they do and what i need to fix it.

BMW want 900 for a new loom for the front.

HELP ME! please

My electrics knowledge is nowt, so I will leave this up to others!

On another note, that snow this year was INSANE!! I live in Sandbanks in Poole, and the snow we had down here was extreme enough! Let alone up north in Leeds! I was up in Manchester one of the days when it was severe, and the M5 was NOT loving the snow at all! Got stuck 4 times!

ye my issue was run flats are ice skates in the snow.

i slide into a pole. not fast but enough to reshape the re inforcer and the bumper.

leeds was not too bad for normal cars just rear wheel front engine motors.

thanks jon for checking to see of you did know.

Do a quick internet search on "BMW WDS" (wiring diagram system) and a few online sites should show up which will cover your model year. The one thing you may need to do is install the adobe scalable vector graphics (SVG) software on your computer (used to view the wiring diagrams). The system is a little tricky to use, but you get used to it after a little while. Alternately, there are downloadable DVD versions out there as well which are more complete/referenced, but the online one would work for most people.
