my windscreen washer decided to stop working. it no longer sprays water out but the head light washer works.
Is there 2 seperate pumps for windscreen and headlights?

I think there's only one pump - you might have clogged nozzles. Try to clear them with a shot from a can of compressed air (the kind you blow clean PC's with).

Remove the inner arch on the front left hand side. The part which is between the wheel and the front bumper and you'll see 2 little electrical pumps, one for the front and one for the rear, and if you disconnect them and pull them out you will see each has a small filter that you can just clean in a bucket of water and refit.

Its an easy fix and tends to be the problem when front screen stops spraying.

Be prepared that when you pull the little pumps out all the washer fluid pours out!

one pump for the front windscreen washers and if you have them one pump for the headlight washers, the headlight washer pump is much bigger than the windscreen one

Any updates on this?
My 05 525i just stopped spraying returning from vacation after the 4rth and I have yet to fix it becuase Austin is in the middle of a drought!

It sounds like the pumps are working, but only a trickle comes out of the spray nozzles on the hood.
I have no warnings in the system so I'm thinking something is clogged; any guesses?

Yeah. Its the filter that clogs up. I was surprised that there was so much algae in the bottle. Its Green !!!
I took out the washer bottle to give it a good clean as well.

Just follow the instructions from luigi524td. You have to take out the wheel as well to allow access.

Do you think this is the problem with my 05 525i?
