What bit size for loosening brake caliper?

My Ride: 530i n52

Model Year: 2006

I bought a 5/16 bit from napa but it didn't fit...too big. Do I need to buy this tool from BMW or did I get the wrong size?

I don't know the actual size but I'm thinking that it should be a metric...

That's what I thought. The manual just mentions "tool holder for 5/16 bit" so I took a chance.

I think it uses a 7mm hex.
