Anyone out there know how to properly reduce the tension of the spring loaded trunk on an 05 530i? My wife has a hard time closing the thing and I can't tell her to just go to the gym and work out.

ya the boot lid is abit on the strong side.
when opening it you have to get the kid to say away from it.
I like to know too.
Maybe change the springs?

The springs tend to loosen up after some use but if you can't wait, you can ask the dealer to adjust the tension.

If you feel like attempting it yourself, take a look at the following and be careful!

The question I keep asking myself is, "What would I do without this board? Let me see, there's that project (or two, or three, of four...) I'd like to get done around the house, there's that thing called sleep I could probably try out, etc."

Thank you Rudy! Jut to be safe, I'll have the dealer look at it...don't want that spring shooting out and scratching my car.

You could also add the M5 trunklid finisher.
The extra weight makes the lid much easier to close AND it looks good too.
