i replaced my seal, and omg it's so much quieter inside.

the only hard part was getting some of the old adhesive strip off.

Goof Off, WD-40, etc.

Just be sure to clean off all the cleaner prior to applying the new seal or it won't stick...

I just purchased a new seal on September 29th 2010. Per the BMW dealer. The NEW P/N is now 54 -10-7-245-551. The OLD number was 54 -13- 7- 117-551. It looks to be the same as the old number. I will install it this weekend!!! I cannot wait to stop hearing the "wind" sound.

Did this today to my 08 550i. My old seal wasnt leaking water, but there was definite wind noise above 40mph. Took me about an hour and the noise was dramatically reduced. The hardest part is getting the old adhesive off and getting a clean surface.

You can buy the seal on Bavauto for $31 and 8 bucks shipping. Definitely worth the money and effort!

if your car is under 4yr/50K the dealer should do it for free. I'm doing mine tomorrow.. it is supposed to be a nice 74F and sunny.

What was the cost from the dealer for the seal?

I am picking up the seal for my pano sunroof tomorrow. I'll take some photos incase someone with a pano wants a look at what to expect.

I have to remember this post in about four weeks once I get some time! I definitely have wind noise and I just hate it. Thanks for the good info everyone!
