Anyone know how or have a PDF manual on removing the volume buttons on my BMW E60 525i sport steering wheel? The button rattles at high speeds I want to get under there and put some padding or something.

I hold it lightly at high speeds and the rattle goes away.

No PDF here, but it should not be that hard.
Remove the battery "+" connection just to be sure (you are removing the Airbag, or at least fiddle with it and that white powder when it pops is going everywhere ;-) )
Underneath your steering wheel is a hole. Insert a torx or allan key in it and push up (this will allow your airbag to come loose, but do NOT use a flat or philip-shead screwdriver because
a.) it is harder to find the right spot to push and b.) it is easier to damage something).
After this, you can take the facings out by unscrewing some screws.

To mount again.. apply the previous from the end backwards.

New signal lever

( or expanding polyurethane ;-) )

I think your problem is seriously difficult to solve without renewal.

I had the same rattle in my directional lever and I stuffed black modeling clay in the back side voids to add some weight to the buttons. Worked like a charm.
