Hello

I own a GT1 yellow head that run perfectly with DIS on a VMWare image on a dedicated laptop.

I'd like to have a look to INPA but also to NCS Expert to reprogramm options on my car.

I tried yesterday to connect INPA to my E61, but I did not manage to connect EDIABAS to my GT1 Yellow Head. I tried to set in ediabas.ini file:
- Interface to "REMOTE"
- Remote IP addresse to "192.168.68.28" (IP of the yellow head on my VMWare image, which my XP computer can ping without problem)... also tried 192.168.68.1 when DIS is started in VMWare
- Remote Port to 6801 (read on the Internet that this port shall be used)

But no success... INPA raises an error during it startup, due to the fact that it cannot reach the yellow head.

Does anyone succeded to have such a setup (most thread on google are about the use of DIS with the INPA cable-interface) ?

Thanks for any help
Matt

You don't need the yellow head for INPA (in fact you don't need it for DIS/GT1 either), one of those cheap chinese cables on ebay works fine

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Ediabas-INPA-4-BMW-100-compatible-OBDII-Interface-/220665718412?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item3360b3a68c
I've heard VAG COM cables can be modified to work with INPA also.

You must install INPA fully/correctly for it to work (i installed the entire contents into a folder on c: drive and ran it from there. There are a few butchered versions of INPA floating around the net which will give lots of headaches!

Good Luck

Hello

thanks for the answer...

I know that I do not need the yellow head... but the fact is that I already own a yellow head and I don't want to buy another cable as it seems to be possible to use GT1 yellow head with INPA.

I wanted to know exactly, by using the software, the difference between NCS Expert, DIS and INPA...

Can DIS do all what the two other can do, I'm not sure (specially for NCS Expert) ? What's the difference ?

Regards
Matt

Up to version DIS V44 can do coding also, after that version you need progman/sss or NCS Expert (the latter i believe is the best). Your best bet is just to buy one of those cheap cables to use for INPA/NCS etc.

Already have DIS v44 and SSS/progman v32 installed on a laptop with a D-can cable ready to go just need the time to test it.

Hummmm...

Well, I need to find by myself then as I don't think it's necessary to buy a new cable avec use yellow head (ediabas.ini file have references to OPS/OPPS and network linked connections)
