30G means that it will sleep with the car. How do you propose to test this with a multimeter because as long as you are in the car, it wont go to sleep. You can try connecting your multimeter to it and then position the multimeter close to a window. Switch the car off and lock it, wait for a few minutes and then check the multimeter display.

Easiest and most effecient way to do it is to either run a proper switched ign live from the fusebox or from the cig lighter,
that will give you a proper 12v ign feed cheapest and easiest way, if you want to do it another way is to install a CAN BUS module from behind the head unit or fusebox and this will generate any feeds that you may need from ign to speed pulse to handbrake to illumination it can be spec'd to your requirements, the rest of the feeds in the diagram will shut down as these cars run on can and use a fast and slow network so basically if the car does not need the current draw it will shut down.

If you need a CAN device drop me a pm.

There is a difference in wiring in the over head console area on the LCI 535i's and the non LCI cars ( same may go for the 550). It has been well documented in other v1 hard wire threads. The green /yellow wire won't work on the 535's and causes a trap error if tapped on the sun roof.

Go with the right front foot well 12v and run the power line up the "A" arm in to the head liner and back down the Mirror mount. It's very easy to do.
