I was thinking of changing my steering wheel to the Msports one. I have already the parts and i'm inbetween doing it myself or trying to find a garage to do it for me. The dealer said no because they're used parts (translation : not bought from them) and my local garage doesn't want to know about it. Don't know why.

I may be and engineer but not a mechanic. I did some reading and seems quite straightforward job to do. The only thing holding me back is that it involves plugging and uplugging airbags...

What you guys think ?

I say go for it!!! Its a (to me) fairly big job, but well documented as a DIY. And if you don't feel confident enough to tackle it I am sure there is an Indy garage that can do it for you. It is a very cool upgrade. Good luck.

It's not about being a simple job, it's that it has to do with airbags. For some reason i'm afraid that the airbag will go off !

They may not go off, but if not done properly it might set off a code on the Idrive. I would suggest doing your research right here on this forum by utilizing the search feature for a DYI. G/L and keep us updated.

not a big deal, dont start the car and disconnect the battery. look up member lospice1, he did the conversion.

I've actually did the research here and there is a goo DIY for it. It doesn't really say anything about the possibility of an airbag going off so that's why i've asked.

I'm think it was lospice1 i've read the post from

Also, i've read somewhere else the tightening torque for the steering bolt is 80nm, anyone can confirm ?

the airbag connection is a simple connector. just disconnect the battery.
