hi, has anyone fitted a cmputor to the rgb interface on the nav tv input, i am thinking of connecting a computor to the car and need to connect a standard video outlet 15pin to the rgb input red, green, blue, sync, ground are the i believe inputs on nav tv ,or do i need a converter or is there just a simple connection plug. what problems do you think i will encounter.at the moment its all thoughtsbut looking to other peoples ideas solutions?
the other alternative is just to feed a seperate touch screen,
what thoughts do you have?

I don't think the NavTV or any of the competitors provides you an RGB input. It provides a simple Video RCA connector input. You can always buy an S-Video to Video RCA chord and connect it. They call it the RGB unit because the unit converts your input into the RGB signals recognised by the BMW screen.

I am considering setting up a laptop with dockingstation through the navTV interface. I've asked Dominic about this if I can connect a VGA connection through the RGB interface and no definte answer. I think the biggest draw back would be that with S-Video to RGB you would get very lousy throughput. I know from connecting my S-Video to my Televison its sucks.

Anybody else hooked up a PC to their iDrive Screen?
if so, Pics and details would be amazing!!

Cheers,

Bruce the nav unit has an rgb input allowing r,g,b,and sync but i thought you usually have vert and horiz sync from the standard 15pin video output of a computor, its been a while since i looked at this and just wondered what was available.yes there is various inputs 3 rca video plus rgb which is a idc type plug also a navi marked input.unfortunately the instructions are brief, ill contact dominic.
the drawback is you really need touch screen,to be efficient, and you could use a infra red remote pad, keyboard, or mouse from the computor.
the only thing is in the front ther isnt a lot of room so you would have on show a monitor attracting attention and bunch of more leads to feed forward.
so maybe best to just use a monitor in back boot mount the computor and let the wife drive
someone must have done this so maybe the thread will show some working options.

I remember seeing a post here where someone has connected a PC in the car. Maybe a search for that will atleast give you some ideas.
