This is the best and most detailed step-by-step headlight removal DIY. Great job all around for those involved. Now I have to get me some 6000k HID... 1st I have to check one I have (D1S vs D2S).

Well done.

First of all:

John must be, like, the best service out there. During this install yesterday (this happened after Scott left to go to ballroom dancing - you knew I was gonna exploit this one, buddy ), John actually had another customer there that had an issue with his fog light turning purple, so what did John do? He took the one in his car and gave it to the guy. None of those "i'll order the part and you'll get it in a week BS". John, I got mad respect for you - you deserve to have your own shop already! (hope you'll allow my e60 and I to be an ornament there occasionally )

And second, my toe's famous LOL - two galleries on 5series.net in one day:

Many thanks for posting such a clear description. Answered my previous post about D1S retaining clips nicely.

Great tutorial ...

I would add one cautionary note for LCI and PreLCI headlight removal. If you are not going to unplug and remove the assembly from the car to change bulbs (as it's unnecessary) before resting the lamp assembly on the engine compartment, place a nice thick towel over that area ... I did not and scratched the back case against something sharp - maybe one of the brake line bolts ???

Fortunately it was not the lens or cover.

You're lucky Xman - you live close enough John can probably meet up with you to do the install. This is a great DIY for those that live a little too far from John's capable hands.

Taking the pics was the easy part. John did the hard part.

THanks Valdy. If TD Ameritrade doesnt come through, most likely a simple small shop will be opened. Not sure timeframe but something small to stock some items, sell wheels, body kits, exhausts, simple stuff. No turbo, supercharger etc. You can come hang!

Good point. But it shouldnt scratch anything as long as you dont rub against it. Just rest it easily up there.

Actually, as Vlad knows, I left to take my wife to see a ballroom dancing show on Broadway called "Burn the Floor". Vlad, aren't't you taking Sasha there bro?

I am far too klutzy to ballroom dance myself. In law school, I once dated a woman who was a ballroom dancer. She tried to teach me some steps but I couldn't pick them up. Not surprisingly, we did not go out for long.
