I've read from a recent post about G-Net Car2VGA Adaptor but the guy has not figured it out. I also found this on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-3-5-6-w...emZ140098974824

Can anyone confirm if any of these units really work for our E60?

I don't mind the line as long as it plays my ipod video!

Yep they're super expensive! There are cheaper options on ebay though but no one has tried them yet. WHo wants to guinea pig??

I'm done guinea pigging on the HID AEs and that's it. I hope Bruce can find a real cheap option for our E60.

Not necessarily two different hook ups. If you install either the ACM or the Nav-TV (GNET) interface to plug a video source into the iDrive screen, then all you need to do is plug the iPod into the video source or a DVD.

You need a separate iPOD set-up only if you want to be able to control the iPOD via the iDrive and see the lists on the screen.

I have a non-nav screen. Has anybody replaced their screen with a bigger (Nav screen) and one of these VGA adapters that would accept an external GPS?

+1, Please explain Dave.

when the guys at cartronics were re wiring my M5 seats, i was talking about the great bit of kit i got from bruce (on here) to enable me to have the LCI rear lights...he then said he could program the ecu to accept the lights without needing any cables? so i said what else can you do? (regarding programing) and he said there are loads of hidden facilites on the car...he enabled audio external bleeps for the alarm and lights, and "sentinal" lights on for a time delay.
he also said if i had nav (being fitted this weekend) he could enable dvd to be played on the move just by programing.

then when i got my car re-mapped by B& W jason also said he could access the "hidden" features, as he was a BMW technition for 20 years and uses "AUTOLOGIC" diagnostic machines that are more programed than BMW main dealers.??

i dont know guys?? give them a call and speak directly to the organ grinder.

good luck.

david.

Normally the CCC will stop the Video source from the TV Module (or DVD module) from being displayed when the car is in motion. Reprogramming the car to avoid this is probably doable and that is what the guys with the older iBUS BMWs have been doing for years.

But Video on the move and enabling the drive to read DVDs are completely different things. If these guys can enable the drive to read DVDs just by reprogramming the car then we are on to something here.
