The ground is connected to the hex bolt on the sunroof motor. The sunroof is working fine, i'll have to check the blue clamp-on. I also checked the inline fuse and it looked ok as well.
I believe that's where I grounded mine as well. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Just hard-wired my Passport 8500 X50, green and yellow wire is there, and it works --- there IS a second green/yellow wire on the bundle of cable going to the rear view mirror, that is the one I used. The Escort hard-wire kit uses the same blue clamp-on connector that is in the V1 pics. No problem here... Used the 10mm bolt just to the driver's side of the UGDO console for ground. No error messages at all. My car is a 4-day-old 2008 550i, picked it up on 5/6/08.

does nayone know what gauge wire the green/yellow wire is? I cant get the blue clamp to hold contact. Looking at finding a different tap-in connector.

The Yellow/green wire works fine, but I need another jumper wire or I would need another wire that continuously gives 12V power in the same place. I don't have a voltmeter to use here so I would really appreciate your help.

One more question. I connected my gps to yellow/green wire that goes to the rear-view mirror but I also connected a small speaker to the same wire which needs 12V. Do you think combination of these two connections is the cause of my GPS turning off? Is it possible that the wire can not provide enough power?

The tap connection is a bit too big for the wire of our car (I think). I took a plier and try to camp the metal together. This helps somewhat & and then rotated it around to get a more secure connection. When shaking hard, the V1 will however still turn on and off. I got tired and left it like that. I have taken the car on some very rought roads here, it has not been a problem at all.

For some reason I never have too much luck with those tap connectors!

Connecting to the green wire, I only get power at the V1 when I am opening the sunroof. Other than that, the V1 is dead. I have a solid connection at the green wire with the blue tap in - I've had it on and off so many times that I am worried that I will break the green wire. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I have a 2008 528i and I tapped into a red wire with a yellow stripe up there. When I get home I will take a picture or two for you to make sure it is the right one.

Thankyou very much. I think I have the right wire, since I have power to the V1. Problem is that I only have that power when the sunroof motor is driving the sunroof open. The V1 comes on for those few seconds and then loses power as soon as the roof reaches its fully opened position. When the motor is closing the sunroof, I do not have power to the V1.

Weird.....

Weird.....

Below is a picture of where I had my V1 Power hooked up too.
It is the Red wire with Yellow stripe, looks like it actually connects to the 2nd slot (counting from left to right). This is NOT on the Sunroof harness but actually on the light Harness.

I removed my light fixture just above my rear view mirror to show you this picture.

I tested it when I went home and it shows Zero Voltage when car is off, but 12+ Voltage when car is on.
Test it yourself and let us know if it helps! I did not see a green wire in the harness for the sunroof on my 2008 BMW 528i.
