please help!
Please help.
My new 2006 525i (only had for 1 week) has a small (1/16") chip in the hood.
I am freaking out thinking about doing this myself.
Has anybody touched up their paint that can help me?
Please advise.

Nope, not an oversight. The idea is to fill the chip pit with something to approximate the original color and make it flush/level with the surrounding paint surface. It is very difficult to effectively use the clear coat with this method and it is not necessary. If you want perfection, go to a body shop and have them sand and repaint the area for lotsa $'s. If you want an inexpensive, fairly good correction, use the method from the link. I've done it, it works.
