I just did this to my motorcycles fuel tank:
Attachment 95062
Attachment 95063
It was Black Denim (Flat Black) and I removed the OEM tank emblems, bought new ones and installed them. I bought 1/8" masking tape and designed the flames. I had a pro actually spray Pewter Denim, Denim Clear and then had it pinstriped in white.
My front E60 wheels have brake dust buildup. Would like help in refinishing those.

The flat black has real character to it. Looks great

I am thinking of writing up a DIY for those of you interested in learning to paint your cars or your pieces.........Is anyone interested? If so, what kind of stuff would you like to see on it?
For instance material choosing (paint types, clearcoat types, clearcoat hardener types) etc?
I would like to give you enough direction to where you would feel 100% comfy reading it and trying it on your own.
Lastly what section would it go under? DIY?

I'm an I-CAR platinum autobody technician and its hard for me to do anything less then perfect. A poorly painted/repaired panel/part drives me nuts.

If your a perfectionist, get it painted at an auto repair shop. You won't be able to create a near perfect finish without a HVLP spray gun and proper paint materials. With a spray can you will get a lot of dust in the finish and without a hardener in the clear it will eventually dye back (fade). You can prep the part yourself to save yourself some money but ask the shop where your getting it done how they want it prepped. Different materials are prepped in different ways.

Thanks. Yes it's quite loud. I haven't riden in a while. Last time I rode I put it at like 184 or 186 mph... can't remember. Noticed after bike was sitting for a while that I have some oil leaking from right fork and never got around to working on it.
