Filtering does cut out the unwanted freq and its absolutely fine in your install because you are using the low feed to drive the amp which drives the sub woofers. My advice was for people who were planning to use the low feed to drive and amp and then hope to drive all the speakers from that feed. Or those who don't have the hi-fi option and then using one of the speaker feeds and then hope to drive the woofers, it wont happen because the HU is doing the crossovers and no feed is full range.

Very unfortunate. (hope i say it right...)

Wow install seems so complex.... So if you change out the stock woofers, you MUST/Have to get an amp to power them? The stock system isnt sufficient to make the replaced woofers sound good????

Not that complex, only a litle bit of work (+/- 3 hours)
If you want the woofers to play nice it's recomended to have a amp.
I even think that the HU will fail after a (long) time (I could be wrong)

Nice ride, by the way.

As known, the EU-setup with 6 speakers sounds as crap (and I realy mean CRAP!).
It amazes me that BMW uses the cheapest speakers (made in Hungaria) for the standard setup, they even didn't bother to put in some tweeters.
Another bummer is that my HU is the F*****G M-ASK type with a single cd player and no add-ons (only Navi Business).
So an upgrade is needed to improve the sound quality.

Bought from Earthquake the SWS-8" woofers and the amp PH800W/2 that goes with it.
Wasn't a bargain, but the improvement is hudge, so money well spend.

- First I had to remove the front seat(s) to have acces the woofer(s).
(and there I made a mistake by unpluging the restrainert, which resulted in a errormessage that only can be resseted by the BMW dealer.)

- After removing 4 screws the wole subcase came out and the OEM woofers could be replaced.

- Because the M-ASK unit has no RCA or low-level output, i'm using the hi-level input from the Amp.
Using a Voltmeter I figured out which are the + and - audio-output from te unit to the woofers (left: Brown/Red, right: I forgot) to feed the Amp that I've mounted in the rear trunk.

Don't know wy the Amp is only working with the + audio-output conected to the hi-level input (as sone as the - output is connected, the Amp goes in protected mode)
But it works and the boom is back!

Next stage: replacing the OEM-speakers in the doors and rear shelf. (Next weekend)
Did you buy the subs from us or eu?

Yes, there is space between the covers and the subs.
