My 1st DIY - Left rear brake lamp.
Chances are I won't encounter an easier DIY task with my E60 than the one I completed yesterday.
I had a left brake lamp malfunction come up on the display last week (and visually confirmed the lamp failure). I checked the DIYs for lamp replacement here and on YouTube and went to work.
I popped the 2 trunk liner screws in the left quarter panel and removed the liner, unplugged the power connector, used an 8 mm socket to unseat the four screws, pushed out the lens assembly, hit the 2 tabs to unseat the inner assembly from the lens, replaced both brake lamps and reassembled in the opposite order.
The entire DIY took <10 minutes and the cost $6.24 (for the lamps). 20 minutes total if you include the drive to the auto parts store for the lamps.
Many of you routinely engage in these activities in your sleep, but as they say, in the world of DIY, one must learn how to crawl before one walks.
