I'm looking into M5 mirrors that have the following features: folding, turn signal lamp, and courtesy lamp. Now my question is, except for the folding button, does an e60 come with the proper connections to make the lighting work or do I need to do something?

Also what does this button do? Do I already have the folding mirror button?

Thanks!

Turn signal lamp? Is it an OEM M5 mirror?

Do you have puddle light under the mirror on the original std mirror? If yes the no re-wiring needed.

If not just hardwired the mirror led puddle light.

Ahhh good ... I was a bit surprise for a moment... anyway... if you have it on the std mirror you don't need to do anything otherwise just hardwire it like I did.

As all depend on the wiring you have I only have 3 wires for the mirror if your MY before 09/2005 may have more wires but it's all there.

GL!

For folding, there is no one in the US that can program M5 mirrors to fold on Non-M5 e60's. (For 2004-2007. The 2008 has folding option available for Premium package I believe.)
I've been trying for 2 years. LOL. no retrofit available so far.

Also one user (He no longer comes on this forum), claimed he got some european window modules and plugged it into his US car and was able to fold and have all the options of the M5 mirror. From 2004-2007.

So if you find a solution, tell us!!

So how are people folding them then? I swear I've seen people w/ non-m5s and they are folded. Are they just manually folding them? Can't I just manually wire a switch that activates the fold?

Yup manually folding them, most of the electronic in our car link via a network LIN-BUS or CAN-BUS and it has ECU like the mirror has multifunction ability (up/down & left/right, heat, puddle light, auto-dim, auto-dip on reverse and link into key memory and auto-fold) but it only has 3-wires (model after 09/2005) out of it, at least 1 of that wire is the power the other probably the high & low signal of the BUS network.

So w/o intimate knowledge of the network it'll be pretty tough to wire a simple switch...
