My windshield wiper fluid level warning comes up a couple of days after topping it off and never even using it. What could be the most likely culprit causing this leak besides the reservoir? Anyone have any DIY guides on diagnosing this problem so I can fix it myself? I'm out of warranty and would like to perform the repair myself.

 

Very likely it is the pump. It sits on the reservoir. There is also a gromet between the pump and reservoir (called a strainer), change that too.

 

Thanks, hopefully all that stuff wont cost me all that much to replace. I've never taken out the reservoir so I'm looking up instructions how to get to it..

 

I'mm experiencing the same problem. Can I just replace the strainer only? My pump is working fine?

 

According to BMW TIS the front left wheel has to come off and the front of the wheel well protector plastic has to be unscrewed to access the reservoir. Once you're in there you can inspect what's broken. My pump works fine too, I just need to get in there and determine the source of the leak. If you need BMW TIS I'll post a link here.

 

i had this problem and it was my pump. Parts and labor was around 200 bucks at dealership FYI.
