not sure what firmware i am on. i was told all i needed to do was make sure my single disk will play mp3, so i took it in to bmw to update so that i could do that. i just double-checked and my cd changer did play the mp3 cd as well...but still not able to pull up the ipod. what do i need to do? do i need to reset something?

No. All you would need to do is connect the interface and you should be good to go.

How long are you giving the ipod to sync up I have a couple of ipods and depending on how much info is on them it takes different amounts of time to load info.

My 32 gig touch takes about 1 too 2 min when initially connected because I have about 4300 songs on it

my 8 gig loads in almost 30 seconds

my 30 gig classic takes about 1 min and it has about 4000 songs on it so it varies, but until it is loaded I can not access the cd menue

ahhh I think i might now what the issue is. What generation is your iPod?

The interface IS COMPATIBLE with 3rd, 4th, & 5th generation iPods, the new iPod Classic, iPod mini, iPod nano, iPod touch, and the Apple iPhone.

Does your iPod meet these criteria?

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to E60 forums and new to my 2006 530i. I would like to order and install the ipod kit myself but seeing some problems with my prewiring. My e60's original sticker says that it is pre-wired for CDC and looking in the glove box it appears that it is pre-wired. The only thing I noticed is that the plug has 2 wires from it but not the optical wires that everyone is talking about. My wire looks like the wire below from a previous poster:

Here is a little bit more about my E60:

Pre-wired for CDC (or so it says)

I don't wanna order it and come to find out I still need to get it installed at a dealer. Looks simple enough if I have everything I need. Your thoughts and suggestions greatly appreciated.
