Intercepting iDrive Controller signals?

My Ride: 525d E61, M-Package in Carbonblack, DVB-T and X-Box installed
Hi,
may it be possible to intercept the iDrive controller signals (turn, push) to be used for something else? Can the connection between iDrive controller and CCC also be cut by a simple switch?
I don't know how the controller looks below and whether it transmits the signals in a bunch of wires of via a bus system...

thanks for the info. Is this also for all buttons in the car (e.g. the voice control button in the center)?

Those I am not so sure. One could easily say no as they are just a toggle "interrupt" but on the other hand, why not just a single fibre connect into MOST. I don't have drawings at hand that can answer this. Maybe later.
