Hey there,

I've got HID fogs and no error message on idrive / blinking of fog lights.
The HID kit was $80 dollars and the cable to cancel out the idrive message was $24-25 dollars. Let me know if you need me to point you in the right direction.
I've had it since november and haven't had any problem at all with it.

MK
nigxdoof,

If i'm not happy with the results tomorrow, i'll look you up and try the HID setup. Thanks!

I'm trying to put in a whiter light as well. Can someone tell me how to get the fog lights off? Do I have to pull off the plastic grill to get to the fog light screws or is there a place to stick a screw driver and pop them out like on the old 3-series?
I downloaded this post a few days ago.. I'm sure someone will recognize these pics. Thanks to whomever took the pics and created the post.

I believe the post mentioned that some of the parts that you will remove and eventually fasten back in place, will fit snugly and need a strong but careful tug to remove. DISCLAIMER: These are not my pictures, nor have I attempted this task. PLEASE TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK! ITnurse

I'm working on this tomorrow am.

ADDENDUM TO PICTURES

The fasteners that are spoken about in the 3rd picture are held in place by a very thin 3/8" diam plastic washer. You'll need to quarter turn these with a philips screwdriver to loosen and pull and twist with pliers to remove (not difficult).

I pulled out the OEM bulb only to discover that the new bulb was not the correct bulb. F#$%!! (bummer)
Will try again once i get the right ones.

Well, I also attempted to swap out my fog lights this weekend and thanks for posting the How-to steps! I really was after a bulb that was brighter and bluer...the main goal was to better match my zenons. I had no problems at all excpet......

1st - I kept reading how the fog light covers are now all glass instead of plastic. NOT SO as I learned when I tried to clean one with a not so soft crubbing tooll! Now I need a brighter fog light just to get the through the haze I created on the lens! Anyone ever replaced the PLASTIC cover piece to the fog light (price)?

2nd - The Silverstar Ultras that I put in looks exactly like the stock halogen bulbs and didn't do anything for matching the zenon's.

So the steps worked great, but I really need some suggestions on a more blue fog light bulb that will better match the zenons

I saw that someone posted to use the PIAA 4700 Extreme Force? Anyone done this and get a better match to the zenons?

Any other suggestions??

OK, I just ordered them up. I wasn't crazy about how the Extreme Force says they look blue even when the lights are off.

BTW, your ride looks sweet. I love the 19's you put on. Did you get them from BMW or aftermarket? I just got my 550 and am itching to do something, but the engine seems like it doesn't need touching. So I'm thinking of just some exterior/interior for starters. I just ordered the fog lights and some AC Schnitzer pedals. Did you add the M5 front bumper and side-skirts or did you do the rear as well? How much does something like that run (if you don't mind me asking)?
