Got brave tonight and installed eject box and adapter myself this evening. Series of pics follows. Serial numbers of parts already posted, i have a V600 so used Motorola adapter. Went to the hardware store to find something metal but credit card thin to pry off wood insert piece- ended up using a putty knife. With the knife i ended up pushing one of the clips off- once this happened the piece came out easy.

the rear AC vents then need to be removed to thread the cable properly. There are two clips below the vents that need to be removed first, i pried them off with a flathead screwdriver.

Here is what the clip looks like once removed

There are prongs coming up from the AC vent frame so pivot frame down as you remove it.

The cable can then be threaded from above.

A piece needs to be removed to connect eject box to the electrical bus to charge the phone- this is what it looks like.

This is the final picture with connections made- sorry it's so dark.

Once this was done i could charge the phone no problem but got zero reception from the cars antenna. Read other posts about the connection to be made in the trunk. The antenna connection sits underneath/behind the storge bin seen in the next picture.

prior to connecting anything this is what the two connections look like.

a piece has to be removed from one end before the antenna connection is made- this is that piece.

The two ends are now connected. If a compensator is going to be used it would be installed on these connections, rather than connecting them directly as i did.

Here's the phone sitting in the adapter.

Charging works fine, i drove around a little bit tonight, got 4-5 bars most of the time, usually get 2-3 bars from my phone (T-Mobile). Hope this is clear. I'm not much of a mechanic but didn't find this too difficult, took about an hour.

Great write-up. It's basically just like the CPT9000 eject-box/cradle install.

For the final record: what were the part numbers of the eject frame and snap-in adapter? I have a v600 and would really like to be able to secure the phone in the car for charging, signal, etc.

Thanks,
MrB

go to:

http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/e60/6304438-1.html

it lists all the part numbers necessary, depending on which phone adapter you need. i ordered the parts from my local dealer, took a few days to arrive, got the BMWCCA discount (15% here).

The wiring looks simple enough. How about the actual cradle itself. Does it just snap into the space under the arm rest or what? Thanks for the info!

Nevermind I got the answer by following the link to the CPT9000 installation instructions. Another question though: The CPT 9000 instructions say programing is required. Is this no longer nessasary?

Correct, with the bluetooth functionality no programming is necessary
