I'm in the exact same boat, I have a Basslink II that I took out of my Jetta before trading her in for the 5. Where do you plan to mount the sub level control, i was thinking of putting it in the armrest.
Would it also be possible to make a connector for this type of setup like the one in the sub/amp DIY? I would rather not cut wires if I didnt have too.
I want to be able to give the guys at the Stereo shop all the instructions I can for the install since there aren't many of these cars around where I live and installers dont have experience working with them.
But with instructions I still trust them more then myself .. plus someone else is liable if there are problems lol

Hey, I was reading Bruce DIY and here are the wire code
4.0 RT/GN pin 10 +ve [12V+ line]
4.0 BR pin 20 -ve [12V- line or earth]
0.35 WS/VI pin 9 RAD_ON [Remote on]
0.75 SW/VI pin 13 AZBL- [Line level Left input -ve]
0.75 SW/RT pin 3 AZBL+ [Line level Left input +ve]
0.75 SW/BR pin 4 AZBR- [Line level Right input -ve]
0.75 SW/WS pin 14 AZBR+ [Line level Right input +ve]
2.5 RT/WS pin 8 ZBL+ [Speaker output Left +ve]
2.5 BR/GE pin 18 ZBL- [Speaker output Left -ve]
2.5 RT/BL pin 6 ZBR+ [Speaker output Right +ve]
2.5 BR/WS pin 16 ZBR- [Speaker output Right -ve]
Color key:
GE Yellow
GN Green
GR Grey
RT Red
SW Black
BL Blue
WS White
BR Brown
all you really have to do it tap into those wires... so it would be power, ground, remote, and I'm going to tap into rear speckers... I'm going to PM Bruce...
btw, power cable should come from stright from the battery, with a fuse.

I don't know much about the Bass Link. Is it a mono or stereo woofer? Does it have its own amplifier and speaker in one unit?
If you are taking power directly from the battery all you need for your unit from the stock wiring is
0.35 WS/VI pin 9 RAD_ON [Remote on]
and one pair of
0.75 SW/VI pin 13 AZBL- [Line level Left input -ve]
0.75 SW/RT pin 3 AZBL+ [Line level Left input +ve]
or
0.75 SW/BR pin 4 AZBR- [Line level Right input -ve]
0.75 SW/WS pin 14 AZBR+ [Line level Right input +ve]

So did you ever get it working, how does it sound paired to the fatory system? Mine is still sitting in my computer room, trying to decide if I should install or sell.
I am in the same boat.
Had an e39 and bought the basslink from Bavarian with the "plug and play" connection.
Now have an e60. The connection is different, so, looking to hard wire. But, concerned that this sub in the trunk will not provide much sound improvement to the cabin given the insulation.
GL with the install and let us know if it improves the sound in the cabin.

Can I revive this thread? I am trying to install my Basslink I in my 07 e60 with HiFi Amp. So the wires I splice and use should be line level not speakers? I am using a converter with two each right and left speakers with loop ground wires.
Appreciate the help.
