Let's see:

Sand, prep, and clean with laquer thinner: about 10 mins per piece

2 coats of black primer: about 40 mins (incl. drying time between coats)

3 coats of gloss black top coat: about 1 hour (10-15 mins between coats as per instructions)

3 coats of high gloss clear coat: same as top coat

3 hours drying time (per instructions, would've allowed for more but the wife was sick)

Total somewhere around 9-10 hours including careful removal of the pieces

9-10 hours? Geez... I hope you're not charging by the hour

Wish them long lasting and don't waste your effort

i want to do the same but dont want to remove trim. i read some earlier posts and someone else tried this but it eventually chipped off. i dont think he primed or used laquer thinner (good idea). i may try it this weekend. hopefully pics to follow. didnt think of gloss though...hmmm

Remember the chrome/stainless trim is nearly bare metal and will require primer for good adhesion. Like I said, prep is the key if you want it to last.
