Hi guys I need urgent help with removing my crank pulley as I started getting a burning smell on new years day when I was in London when I opened the bonnet I noticed the belt wasnt Spining as fast as it should got it home slowly without using too much engine power and without putting strain on the power steering as this kept on going hard every now and then

Got it home checked the crank pulley plastic has cheesed off the metal mounting its the genuine bmw one looks like the same one since the car was built

I pulled off the melted part of the pulley off now I'm left with the metal part which is mounted by four bolts

When I try to undo this the crank spins as in the engine is turning how can I lock this from Spining so I can undo the nuts and replace the pulley

Thanks

I did notice the pulley Spining a little unevenly few weeks ago but was very minor

The metal part spins evenly
