Does anyone have any idea if the MOLD that accumulates is harmful? I'm no expert on mold, but I can't imagine mold being blow into the car is a good thing.

It's harmful to breath over a prologed period of time, and people with allergies are far more suseptible. For 'most' people without allergies however, you won't breath enough to cause serious issues. It's more of a smell issue.

It is similar to the mold that can grow behind the walls or crawlspace of a house with moisure or flooding issues. It's much worse of an issue in a house becuase you breath it more consistently, but the same logic applies in your car.

Small question. On the right Microfilter, when u want to open it, there's a small pipe that is attached to it. how to disconnect it? i tried to, but got scared to unplug it or do anything wrong.

All of this is interesting, but why don't BMW do what my Volvo S60 did. After you have left the car for a while (45 mins or so), and the AC had been working hard, it turned the fans on to dry out the AC system automatically. Only took a few mins, but in 6 years never had to treat the AC once.

Took me by surprise first time, I was outside and the fans kicked in full pelt for a few mins. Wondered what on earth was going on!

It would only really be a software update, like the timed blower settings. If anyone from BMW reads these posts, how about a note in the corporate suggestion box?

how about instead of using a disinfectant, use steam. Will that do damage?
