Hood Strut Replacement (Hood falls on E60)
Hello Fellow Members,
The hood on my '06 550i does not stay open. Time for new hood struts, I guess. My search did not reveal any DIY for this job which I assume is easy, although I do not see the bolts or screws that hold the struts in place. Do I need to remove a collar or clip on either end of the strut to reveal them? Do you have any DIY advice for this job? Thx in advance.

When I get home in a few hours I'll post up a detailed explanation of how I did it, with a link to the ones I bought from amazon.

Sorry it took so long but basically what I did was open the hood, get some locking pliers on one side. On the other side get a small flat head and put it in the spot I circled and pull the metal band out. There's a little indent there just look for it. After that it should just pop off and you pop the new one in.
I ordered these from Amazon, they looked just like the OEM but withour the BMW logo.
