I like to find the antenna cable of my radio, has anybody an idea where its located, and how I can reach this module (de-installation) instructions?

Maybe sombody can lookup in TIS what it says about removing the radio

I want to install an FM-modulator

Thanks, Justin

There's been ton of posts about this in the past -- you might try searching on the word "modulator."

The key thing to remember, if I recall correctly, is that there isn't just one "radio" unit -- there's a bunch of components. I also remember something about a proprietary antenna connector so it may not be a simple thing...

Rudi, thanks for your help, but before I started this topic, I looked for this already but I didn't find what I needed.

Also I tried searching in the forums for the word "modulator" for about an hour as you suggested, but I gave up.

What the problem is that evertybody is talking about FM modulators, but nobody made a good discription of how they installed it

I think one of the reasons you can't find any description as to how they "did it" is due to the fact that I'm not sure anyone has actually done it. The proprietary antenna connector, if that's what's there, might make it difficult.

It may be easier to use the AUX input to do whatever it is you need to do...

I did this on my old e60 and it's no easy task. You need to cut the antenna connector off the on going into the radio and then cut the one off the modulator that is supposed to go to the head unit becasue BMW uses a special one. Then you need to splice the connectors to the other wire. Esentially switching the connectors. The antenna wire is located being the cd unit on the right side (if viewing from front) of it in the back. To access it you nees to pop off the wood trim above the A/C console. This will reveal some screws on the A/C control knob facia. Unscrew and remove that panel. Then you'll see more scres the hold the facia for the cd player, Remove those. Then unscrew the cd unit and remove it. Be careful not to damage the fiberoptic cables while it is out. Then do the connecter swap. Hope that helps

I succeed....

Use this link of rudy to remove the radio:

Hint, start with step 3a not the other ones, and on the right side of the strip, next to the door.

The connector is pretty standard, its a SMB connector

I connected it as following:

Glad you were able to get what you needed. Did the antenna connector give you any trouble when you put everything back together? It seems to be sticking out pretty far...
