halogen to xenon retrofit + m5 bumper question
#1
i finally decided to do some mods on my car 525i(12/04 production date).
i bought xenon headlights from ebay about 1 year ago , they were sitting in my garage until now.
i was reading a lot of forum topics regarding the capacitors
please tell me if these what i need
http://cgi.ebay.com/lot-of-3-three-ELECTROLYTIC-CAPACITOR-4700-uF-35V_W0QQitemZ270455797816QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ef86bf838how to know if my headlights xenon or bi-xenon(any difference retrofitting)
the numbers on them are 7 166 120 and 7 166 119 with the inprint inside BMW DYNAMIC XENON
as i understood , i need just capacitors + 2-3 wires to be rewired or spliced.. to have them working properly
can u suggest or advise where to buy
bulbs , ignitors , ballasts , also angel rings bulbs(white) - preferably from one seller , in future would like to get matching projectors(xenons) installed (most likely custom fitted) in m5 front bumper.
also if any body can show that imperfection on fender-bumper (m5 bumper installation) to see how it looks actually , could not find on the forum good pic to see it.just trying to decide if i can live with it (since i will try to install it myself) , or going to the shop.....but bumper is already painted sitting in my garage.
thanks

if u find out..by any chance to fit convert ur halogen headlight to the xenons. plx let me knw
i think it costs more than a 1000 pounds to fit that headlight to our e60 by a bmw dealer...

I have done several sets successfully locally. If you want to do it yourself and get stuck let me know. Otherwise I can do them for you (small fee) and send them back.

My Ride: 2008 BMW 535XI white
Model Year: 2008
you mean OEM M5 bumper or after market?
OEM M5 bumper will need OEM M5 fender, and there is no fog light housing
after market M5 bumper will fit with regular fender, and very easy to install, 5 screws above the front grill, 3 screws on front wheel walls, and 2 screws under lower grill, that's it, i can take the bumper out in 30 minutes, looks same as OEM M5 bumper just with fog light, you can find pictures in my albums

OEM bumper will NOT need OEM fenders but as the OP mentions, fit is not perfect without them but if you're not completely anal about fitment issues you can probably live with it.
Anyway as you probably found in other posts you need the bumper skin and the 2 little M5 plastic brackets and you're set. If you still want fitment pics, let me know and I can go out and snap one for you.
I did not need the foam parts or any of the special M5 covers underneath so I doubt you need them as well. I did however fork out around 150 bucks for the OEM brake air ducts since I couldn't figure out a good and easy way of fabricating something myself that would avoid getting water, dirt, small animals and babies in my engine bay. If you do the same, be aware that you need to mod those ducts to fit as well but it's easy and you only need a saw or a sharp knife.
Shoot me a PM if you have any problems/questions around this.
