I think the golf tee mod will do just the opposite on the E60, it will leave the valve closed all the time.
This is what I am trying to figure out. I just figured it was easier to pull the wire harness and test versus all of the clips/tees/zip ties.

Alright. This has been discussed here years ago, see Link below.

This is found only on some model, 545i, 550, and 535i if I'm not mistaken.
Plug the line and the valve stays closed, meaning exhaust #2 is not working.

What I did was chained and safety wired it in the full open position.
This mod really complimented my Twin Air Duct and Air filter Box mod (allowing more air in)
by having a more free flowing exhaust. The throatier sound is just an added bonus.
Just don't ask me for a before and after dyno. It drives better, believe me .

Link.

I had mine welded open for $20 before I ripped it out and put in the B&B (replaced by eisenmann later.)

FWIW- the valve on mine was squeaky as hell- and it opened up the second i touched the gas, below 1500 rpm. it's only there for noise control at idle. at least on the V8, it doesn't affect torque in the least bit. not sure on the 6 cyl cars.

You can do the golf tee mod by plugging the hose near the muffler with a tee/screw or by crimping it with a twist tie. You can also just unplug the wire that controls the flapper which is located right by the left rear tail light. The 335i has a small panel door that allows very easy access. Our 535i does not have the little panel door so you have to remove the left panel in the trunk to get to the wire harness. When I removed both twist screws the panel would still not come off, but I could pull it enough to see (but not unplug) the wire harness that controls the flapper. My question is when I remove the two twist screws, what else do I need to do to get the left trunk panel to pop off? It feels like something else is holding it in place but I can't find it.
Looks like T replied to you on your thread on n54tech..

Looks like T replied to you on your thread on n54tech..

I'm wondering if the the BB would actually keep it closed all of the time as mentioned a few posts above. Our exhaust flapper seems to work opposite of the 335i dual exhaust from what I am seeing on several forums.
