Say if I'd accidentally spray paint on the brake discs (rotors?), does it go away at the first serious brake ? Because I saw some overspray on your discs and then in the next picture it seems completely gone
See post #11. It goes away! The rotors are painted when they put them on new at the factory. Any overspray will come right off on your first trip around the block.

Here is a quote from my original post:

"You'll see a hydraulic jack under the car not to worry it's not supporting the car just there as a precaution up against a control arm slightly touching it."

Rick...
Rick, since you do have a hydraulic jack, and I am assuming there is a plate in the front center of the car you can use to jack up the entire front of the car. That will give you access to both front wheels in one attempt. Why did you choose to use that little manual jack to jack up the side rail instead? Just curious. Thinking to clean my hub rust soon.

By the way, to pain the while caliber, would you recommend using a brush vs. spray? I am also concerned I have to swing up the caliber and remove the pads first for better access to all caliber surfaces. Your thoughts?

Thanks!

Nice job . I dont have that problem...yet...but I think I am going to do the calipers when I get my rims. I work in Riverdale by the way. It's such a nice area.

Impressive Rick.

Indeed. I'm going to do this tomorrow, just with red for calipers.

My local body shop wants $200 to professionally clean and repaint the base of the rotors high gloss black and the calipers red. Is that a fair shake?

Figure it takes 30-45 min per wheel. What's your time worth?

Also, will they do the job you feel is right?

Cheers

you guys just need 545i/550 brakes. Alumiumn rotor hat means no rust and you can polish it like I did along with the caliper.
