I know this because I got 2 miles down the road from buying my car and this happined to me, turns out the stealer hadn't reset the system after servicing the car before I bought it
Btw I'm not far from you, Sheffield, small world eh
Mick
ps, your supposed to do this every time you adjust the tyre pressures, page 87 in the manual

Ok Dave, with the ignition on but car not started, your idrive will show on the screen, when your idrive is in the normal setting, ie waiting for you to choose nav, entertainment, communication and climate, press the controller down. This will bring up the i menu, go to vehical settings and press the controller. Select RPA and press the controller. Start the engine, now select set tyre pressure and press controller, select yes and press controller, now drive off, the message initialising is displayed, which it does as you drive, it will then say status RPA active again.
