Bmw of North America inform my service guys that there is no way possible to make pre-2005 M mirrors to auto fold?
Does anyone have any luck trying to work the mirror fold function yet? I was thinking, what if I take the folding motor wire, and tap it to an 12v power source, and then to an external switch. Is that possible? Any info is appreciated. Thanks

How is this DIY on the autofold coming along ?? Only just read the thread, and was facinated to hear you are working on it.
Incidentally I got mine done by buying a new switch panel and getting B&W Chiptune to program it.........this has got to be the simplest solution for any UK drivers.
But for the US owners sake, I hope you do work out a solution.

I definitely would pay to get it working from you, since its impossible to do it by dealers here.

I think Bruce is trying to develop a solution for electrically folding the mirrors, for those people who can only manual fold their mirrors. It sounds like you are already able to fold the mirrors with your button.
Perhaps you are talking about Key folding. You will need to get a BMW dealer, or another BMW trained technician to do this for you.
As for the puddle lights.........read earlier on in this thread (Post 23), where Bruce has already developed a retrofit Y-cable to take power from the interior door lights.
