Hello,

Thanks in advance. The engine coolant level warning came on today. I checked the level in the engine and it was quite low. I foolishly put in a non BMW coolant (the green stuff) and then realized what I had done. What should I do? Is it ok? Should I flush the system (any diy information). I haven't started the car yet.

Thanks again,

Edwin

My suggestion is to maybe drain the reservoir. You said you have not started the car as yet, so any coolant added will still be in the reservoir. I do not know if the green stuff is compatable. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. How do I drain the reservoir? Is there a plug somewhere?

Thanks again,

Edwin

Use a turkey baster.

I used an aquarium siphon and sucked out at least a litre. I then filled with water and did it all over again until the fluid was clear. I will top off with the proper BMW coolant.

Thanks,

Edwin
