I am extremely new to coding; have read up for the past 2 weeks on various forums a lot about it, yet, I feel I am very new.

I have a 525i M-tech 2008 Automatic (E60LCI) and I need the following information please:

1. I have downloaded NCS Expert - which cable will I need for coding my car?
2. Where do I buy the cable from?
3. Is there any DIY Guideline document for E60LCI Coding?
4. Can my 525i M-tech be mapped onto a 530i M-tech or 535i M-tech?

I would really appreciate if someone can help me move forward.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the community! I have just started looking into coding myself. I ordered the following cable: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISA...E:L:OC:GB:1123

I can't answer your other questions at the moment until I get the cable and start the coding.

Once I do I'll be sure to update you in case you can't find the info.

Mate, thanks for your reply on the cable type; I had sent out a query to a friend who is bimmer technician and he replied as follows:

"http://www.ebay.com/itm/250839824256?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p398 4.m1423.l2648#ht_1729wt_1158

Works well on your model."

I have an E60 LCI Jan 2008 M-tech

Tah

You have a 2008 and those cables will not work for you they only work up to 2007. you need this cable for 2008-2012. http://www.ebay.com/...#ht_2776wt_1185

As far as coding goes, it's been discussed a lot here and it's something very easy to do. It looks harder than it is.

It's probably gonna cost you a lot of time, but all info you've ever wanted is in this topic: https://5series.net/forums/topic/108...ert-code-mods/ (my results on page 37 post #550)

For every other bit of info find your way at www.bmwcoding.com

I'm new to coding also, but managed to code a lot of things in one week. Once you have the right cable it's a matter of reading and carefully trying.

Your questions 1,2 and 3 are answered in that topic, your fourth requires reprogramming of the ECU, I'm pretty sure this can't be done with NCSEXPERT

525 can be 'converted' to a 530.

That link is for 3 series, but the concept is the same.

About 6 months ago in E46 with M54 engine I converted my 325 into 330. Stock supposed to have 185hp and i converted it to 230hp. I found only the difference between the engines was at the intake manifold and the DME software. I chose to do this because the 330 has more hp and is actually more fuel effecient (ironically). 3er and 5er (325/525 and 330/530) pretty much same car all around. It was some work but well worth it. I love that E46. Wife takes good care of it.
