Just to be clear. The MASK/CCC is built into the CD drive housing and its possible to remove the CD drive without killing the iDrive. All you are doing is removing the CD mechanism and leaving all the MASK/CC electronics intact.
disconnect battery
remove MASK
remove CD from MASK and reassemble
reinstall MASK into car
connect battery

i ask as its the same unit as the non nav car? ie: single disc (CD) not with DVD written on the side,
when i took the guts out of the non nav CD and the guts out of the business nav unit..low and behold they were identical (to look at granted)
if its DVD bruce (im not questioning your knowledge) then why wont it support 3d maps?

The Business Navigation DVD is a completely different structure to the Pro Navigation. The data for the maps isn't there. They added data for 3D maps on the latest Business Navigation discs but the MASK does not have enough of processing power for the full maps as in the Pro. The Business is definately a DVD - I know that for a fact.
