What does the pan/filter kit contain? Does it come with seals and screws?

I ran my finger along the pan seal 1st to ensure it was seated properly, and then again with tranny fluid to moisten the seal before installing it.

Can someone help me how to read TFT on this interface I am seeing in INPA? Everyone else seems to see windows with progress bars rather than numbers like me. My INPA version is 5.0.6

thanks

I did the same on my buddy's 2008 E60 528i w/ 6 Speed Auto (110k miles).

I flushed the fluid w/ Valvoline Maxlife ATF(via transmission cooler line. Buy the tool to remove the cooler line!) until the fluid came out RED clean.

BMW Transmission line tool:

I also changed the bulkhead connector seal, transmission filter and reset transmission adaptation and filled at correct fluid temperature.

Bulkhead connector seal:

In the beginning, it shifted really hard, but after couple of days drive cycle, it now shifts very smooth (but fast) than old ZF fluid.

This Maxlife is full synthetic and should last longer than the ZF.

I saved Valvoline's response listing this transmission fluid is approved for use in BMW LT71141, LA2634, M-1375.4, ATF 3.0.

Now the car has been running w/ Valvoline Maxlife ATF for about 15k miles w/o issue,

Did you keep track of fluid temperature using a thermometer or INPA?

thanks

I used the kitchen meat thermometer probe and stick into the transmission fill plug to monitor the fluid temp.
Just make sure you jack up the car evenly

this may sound like a very dumb question but I have a 2004 525i & was wondering if theres any way for me to check the fluid level in my transmission besides draining it? I was also wondering where it is that I add tranny fluid on this vehicle?

Check here, a great resource for our transmissions.

Im about to attempt this service myself on my car. Im just over 150k miles. I watched all the old Bav Auto DIY videos before realizing the E60s have a different transmission, and have since watched multiple videos on E60 transmission fluid and filter changes. The only thing I'm unclear on is, do we have a separate pan gasket like older model BMWs? The pan I bought looks like it has one built in.
