What you doing here is nice but I think you don't need to change tranmission oil because is lifetime let say 500000km or 320000mls. I have truck DAF with automatic ZF as-tronic 12 speed tranmission and first oil change i made in 500000km was recomended in service book and is hauling 40tons. So for cars i don't think is neccesary.
Your tranmission will maintain how you operate you car.If there is no oil leeks from tranmission don't tauch it if is just check oil level. My BMW 530i with 6HP19z have 180000km and is shifting good so I don't even think about it to mess with oil change.

Sorry for asking too many question on the jacking issue alone.

Thanks

Thanks Riz. You think these rectangle assorted will help since I will be using jack stands with the y shape. I do not want to damage the the car plastic adapters when I put all 4 corners on the stands. I used jack stands for the two front with assist from a floor jack at the front when I replaced the water pump but the weight will be much more when all four are lifted. Just want to make sure when I do this transmission fluid change.

The adapter is safe to use with a jack or a jackstand. I just make sure that it's properly centered and stable when I lower the car on jackstand.

I think I found where to monitor tranny fluid temperature using INPA. I'll do it again on a cool tranny and see if I can raise temperature to 40 - 50 degrees centigrade.

Gretriebetemperatur is gear temperature in German, Ja?

After a few hours, temp went down to 50°C. This will make my Tranny Fluid top off easy .

start INPA -> (Fx)E60 -> Transmission -> Gearbox Control Module GS19 -> (F5)status -> (F7)Analog1

Excellent piece of information to allow us to fill the tranny fluid at the right temperature, no more guessing !!!

UK owners Only

having done the job at home I bought a 20 litre container of ZF lifeguard 6 the container actually held around 22.5 litres

I have decanted the remainder into brand new plastic containers with 6 litres in each and 5 litres left in the original tin

BMW charge £15+VAT for a litre if your dealer will let you have some as they only do it by taking from a large drum ( £108 for 6 litres)

So the 6 litre containers are for sale at £80 delivered ( I have 2 available)

the 5 litre tin is for sale at £65 delivered

also for obtaining the filter pan at a decent price ( BMW want £196) contact http://www.jpat.co.uk/ who are authorised ZF stockists where you can get the filter pan for £71.80+VAT ( 6HP26 vesrion) as well as the sump screws ( note they only sell the later t40 Torx ones that replace the terrible early T25 torx bolts)

also get yourself a copy of INPA with the OBD-II cable for monitoring gearbox oil temp during the fill and reseting the gearbox adaptation values after the fill

Has anybody bought a kit from this company?

http://www.thectsc.com/

The site has some really good technical data and DIY instructions.

Looks like the 6HP19/21 kit is available for $238. If you add the pan bolts and freight it comes out to about $300 delivered here in Houston. That price includes 6-liters of the genuine ZF Lifeguard Fluid, too. They are selling the LifeGuard for less money then other companies are selling the Pentosin ATF.
