Castrol Oil have some recomendations for manual gearbox but not rear axle or auto, enclosed

Castrol Oils
yeah but if your car is under warranty, you need to go by bmw's recommendations for service, not Castrol's, otherwise bmw will try to find ANY little excuse to void your warranty.

Just joined this forum, since the wife just got a 2005 530i with step, but I did this in my Z4. Same thing, only a fill hole. Suck out all the fluid and refilled until overflow. Used Royal Purple after I called them and gave them the details of the tranny.

Plan on doing this as soon as the 530i is out of warranty (09/2009) to the tranny and diff.

I would recommend Redline fluid -- they make good stuff for diffs and trans. I am planning on doing mine soon as well since I don't believe the "life-time" BS. I used Redline on the 330i I had previously and several other cars.

SO I assume that I can ONLY get the original stuff at the dealer? I'm worried about my warranty.
