I was stuck trying to figure out the proper ecu family and zb number for a 2008 550 until I reread terras post

Here's an excerpt of the GKE215.ATS file
Code:
;Fahrzeugzuordnung (Auftrags-Steuerdatei) vom 13.11.2009 11:51
;TAIS-Abfragedatum (ab) 26.11.2009
FZG;LA;SA;ZB_NR;SE_VS
NV93;;205;7601460;VS
NW13;;2TB;7601458;VS
NW13;;205;7601460;VS

so after seeing that the sports automatic firmware for the egs is 2TB I realized in those excerpts the first thing is the production code followed by the type of firmware followed by the zb number. I went on realoem.com and found out the production code for my car was nw53 so I opened all the ats files in all the gke folders in my data folder on my computer until I came to gke195 and saw these 2 listings non of any of the other gke folders had entries for nw53 so I assume gke 195 must be my ecu family

NW53;;2TB;7592142;SE
NW53;;205;7592146;SE

being how 2tb is the sports automatic firmware is it safe for me to assume that I should flash the car with the firmware listed under ecu family gke195 and zb number 7592142
reading this entire thread made me think i needed to have ista/p to tell me the proper firmware I'm not too sure the method I came about it is 100% should I proceed with the flash? anyone have thoughts?

I went ahead and ordered PN 51166985886 since it was $74.58 (rather than PN 51166960879 at $132 in the OP).

The difference is the cheaper part has a matte black plastic trim vs. black leather trim surrounding the aluminum.

Another option similarly priced is PN 51169123873, which I think is the same as I purchased except in high gloss black vs matte black.

Attached is pic of the 51166985886 version. Hope this helps.

Got your PM. Sorry but I read your post above and I really don't understand what all the fuss is about. Run the VIN. For the regular transmission here is the code:

S205A AUTOMATIC GETRIEBE Automatic transmission

For the Sports Auto I would assume (guessing here based off your info and too lazy to lookup) that S2TBA is the code for your SAT converstion.

So you properly modify the VO of the vehicle, delete the S205 and add the S2TB and then encode the entire vehicle. From there when you attempt to flash the software, and just do an update it should pick the correct ECU family for you provided you already have the necessary files imported.

Actually I looked it up and im correct......

If you flash then encode entire vehicle again. Encoding should take care of any errors that would occur. There should be no need to code out any errors, that's what encoding (marrying) the units does. "Hey DME, KOMBI, I have this and I don't have this" etc etc.

S2TBA SPORT-AUTOMATIK GETRIEBE Sport automatic transmission.

Anyone notice the following "bug" with SAT retrofit and Vishnu Procede? If you double click the Sport button, it causes the Procede to do a map change just like the CC lever...

That sound very plausible, because when I looked up my ATS file for my 530i (GKE215) with production code ND72 for $2TB it gave me exactly the same ZB firmware which I flashed the other week and was spot on. Go for it you won't regret it, please report back with your results

Flashing the entire vehicle with the $2TB is fine if you perform the full retro-fit, if like me only did the gearshift/button (no paddles) then you have to code out the paddles on the EGS or it will go failsafe mode. Any other errors you get after flashing can be cleared afterwards as I mentioned previously.

ah good point I forgot about the paddles for this. At any rate, I would do it the correct way, which is what I mentioned and then just code out the features that aren't needed (paddle shifters)

Do not need ista/p. Enter that number into WinKFP and flash.
