Just got off the phone with the dealer and he advised me that they can install the mp3 capability, but there is a possibility that this software upgrade might crash other control units and I would be held responsible and the costs could go well over $1000. Why is this so difficult??

If I can't make any progress on this by the end of the week, I'd be willing to sell it to avoid the headache.
Anyone interested in purchasing a basically brand new Gateway 500 that I bought yesterday from Fantastic 5?

 

that's typical dealer response. it's just their way to CYA in case they f* up the programming. even though the programming is the same as adding a factory iPod adapter, since it's not on their list, they're scared to do it.

 

Thank you. Now I just need to find a dealer that will do it for a reasonable price.

 

Russdx- How do you access the dension in the entertainment menu? Is it under CD? What year is your car?
I still can't get mine to work, and I'm not sure if I should even take it to the dealer for programming before I can get the unit to work with just track numbers.
