Debadging 530i trunk
Here's how I removed the trunk badges from my 530i. There's probably tons of other posts out there about how to do this, but this is my first post and I figured why not. This method worked well for me, but if there's better methods lemme know!
All I used for this was a heat gun, goo gone, plastic blade, and fishing line.
-Started by making sure area around badges was clean.
-Used heat gun to heat glue behind badges. I tried not to apply too much heat to the paint, just enough to get the glue soft.
-Once glue is soft enough to wiggle the badges back and forth, use the fishing line to gently separate the badge from the trunk.
-Used goo gone on a SOFT cloth and dabbed onto leftover glue. Make sure to keep glue generously saturated with goo gone.
-Used a plastic blade to GENTLY scrape off last of the glue.
-Used small amount of goo gone to remove the leftover glue.
-In the end you can still see light silhouettes from where the badges were.
-Used a polish compound to blend the paint together and tie it all together.
