I did a search in bmwcoding.com and found a post talking about pin 7 & 8 for different model years of E60. My cable did come with an adapter. I assume that is the one which bridges pin 7 & 8 together before going into the cable (missing pin 8). I will try to reset the IBS again using the adapter. Many thanks for the information and I learn more about basic coding today ...
