I also did this mod and it worked out great! Leds I used are 2500 MCD, easy to adjust from dim to very bright using the fader. Used the same tape as Anzafin did and added some yellow reflective tape over the REV scale. Looks great even in daylight with cluster light turned off. Painted the needles with red marker. I only painted the top of the needles and the part under the needle caps. Works like a charm.

Never held a solder iron before until now and managed to finish the job within an hour or so. Just read all the instructions, take your time and before you know it you´re done.

This is really good writeup, thanks! I've just finished my cluster. Everything went great, but I'm not satisfied with the needles color. What do you guys use to paint them?
