Hey Guys,
I just starting posting today but I've been following some threads of interest for a whiles now. I'm very interested in doing this mod myself and may even add blue LEDs for the backlight display located in between the two gauges. I'm in the process of ordering another cluster from the UK and will get the correct LEDs etc for the job next week. I'll post a few pics once I'm done. This looks to be a great mod. I did not much like the orange lighting myself even though I know it sticks with old-school BMW tradition.
For ones who have had the mod done, did you guys find that there is a bit of a contrast with the other LED lighting systems in the car that still illuminate orange? I've seen others modify the LEDs for the climate control system, DVD, etc. Just wondering how far I'm going to end up going with this.

Ricky / pinguhk,
Can you tell me what the size/package is for the LEDs used to backlight the center LCD screens in between the two gauges? Also how many LEDs are used? I'm thinking of changing these too once I'm in there.
Thanks,

Hey Ricky,
I'm sure you mean LED package size is 3528 for the guages. There was another post I came accross where a member completed a back light mod for the display also. He mentioned using 18 LEDs but I don't remember the size. For the life of me I can't find the post either.
