I have a 6 cylinder 525d and just had a scheduled oil service carried out by my local independant BMW garage. They advised that I have three glow plugs showing as faulty. They weren't pushing for them to be replaced which I appreciated but I wonder if they should be sorted sooner rather than later. Numbers 1, 5 & 6 show an error. The car starts okay, although it misses / idles roughly for a few seconds in very cold weather. Should I change all six or just the faulty ones? Assuming I just do the faulty ones can anyone tell me the cylinder order, is number 1 cylinder at the bulkhead or closet to the front radiator? I've done a search but can't locate any info on this, plus if anyone has any tips or a diy to help change them it would be appreciated.

not sure on the cylinder numbers, try realoem? if no one answers or use a multi meter set to OHMs and measure each one, ideally you want it to read around 1 so compare each end..
