Since I am not a big Ipod user, had two different models and never used them. I'm looking to install a cd changer, my e60 has the cd changer prep option.

2004 525i

Can I use any cd changer from any year e60. What part # cd changer should I be looking for?

What parts are exactly needed to install it?
So far this is what I found:
1. cd changer
2. bracket
3. sheet metal screws
4. Optical fiber cable

anything else?

I will install it and then take it to the dealer to activate it.

Hi,
If your car is CD prep'd you shouldnt need the fibre optic & power cables - they should be behind the glovebox.
You will need the CDC, bracket & screws - any E60, 61, 63, 64 CDC will fit.
- But, if you install it the dealer will have to remove to retrofit code your car... If it's installed, when the car is connected to the network the unidentified CDC will cause a small issue, hence it will have to be removed / bypassed prior to coding.

hope this helps...

Anyone know how much a dealer would charge to activate the changer?

I am in the same situation. Hopefully when I go to the dealer to get my CIP update, they'll include activation at no cost.
